DJ and I will spend 7 nights in a Deluxe Beachfront Bure (bungalow) just steps away from the ocean on the island of Qamea, Fiji. It is 1 of only 12 on this private island.
Our bure has a large covered deck with comfortable furniture and hammock with dramatic and unobstructed views of the ocean and sunsets.
A Traditional Fijian wedding is where Fijian Warriors escort the bride down the flower laden pathway along the beach and gardens to the glistening white sandy beach ceremony location right beneath the swaying coconut trees. Gazing out to the clearest, crystal turquoise lagoon in the South Pacific you'll smell the scent of exotic flowers, hear the angelic voices of the Qamea choir. This July and August will be quite the whirlwind! Our adventure starts with a road trip in the "road trippin van" from Colorado to Minnesota where we'll be enjoying the company of family and friends for almost two weeks. On the agenda: We'll be seeing Dave Matthews perform at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin on the 4th of July; fishing and 4-wheeling in McGregor; Jess's Bridal Shower and of course our Pre-Wedding Celebration on July 10th.
We then gave ourselves about seven days back in Colorado to pack and prepare for our destination wedding/honeymoon trip. Somewhere around the 23rd of July, we'll head from Colorado to southern California (Laguna Beach area). There we will spend a couple of days hanging with family while making sure to get in some time at the beach and Magic Mountain. Our flight on Air Pacific departs Los Angeles on July 27th and is 10 hours, but because of time changes and international date line, we won't arrive in Nadi, Fiji till July 29th!! Then a short 1 1/2 hour flight to the north east Island of Taveuni. Next step will be to be transferred by land cruiser and boat over to Qamea Resort and Spa.
